PETE'S DRAGON- Review I'm not sure if you could even call this a reboot. It's more of a re-imagining. Classic characters are revisited and the story is retold for a modern era. No orphan with abusive adopted parents and no town drunk, but still it manages to pay homage to the original without over-shadowing the current film. This Pete's Dragon stands on its own. The visuals are spectacular and the design of the dragon is original. Imagine if Smaug, Falcor, and Marmaduke had a baby and you would have Elliot. Can't imagine that? Well, then go buy a ticket and see for yourself. The music and acting get emotions flowing. It's a fantastic film for all ages. My kids loved it. My wife loved it. And I loved it even though I was a fan of the original. My childhood was not ruined! And you may wonder how do you find someone to replace Mickey Rooney.....well, you hire Robert Redford, that's how. I can't state enough how much I liked this film. The best of 2016 so far! This is a must see for all families!
