TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: OUT OF THE SHADOWS - Review As a kid who grew up watching the Turtles on Saturday morning, it was nice to relive that experience as an adult and also introduce my kids to the world of the Turtles. This is a basically a CGI cartoon with some live-action background actors and sets. It's pure fun. Beebop and Rocksteady steal the show with their comedic antics. If you're looking for a deep film that really explores these characters through a complex plot, then this isn't the film for you. If you're looking for action-packed fun and jokes galore, then go out now & buy your ticket. My major complaint is the PG-13 rating. I waited a week to find out if it was appropriate for a 7 year old to see. It was. I'm unsure why the PG-13 rating. Like Ant-Man, it should have been marketed towards families and given a PG rating. Neither of those films did that. I never know if PG-13 means dark, violence like Krampus, World War Z, or Mission Impossible...or if it is a family film like Ant-Man. I missed out on 3D because of the wait.
