In breaking news, Nicolas Cage is rumored to be cast as the Spectre in a film being released in 2020 for DC's extended movie universe. In outlandish fashion, I decided to make up this story because I think it would be hilarious for Nic Cage to be both Ghost Rider and the Spectre. Representatives at Warner Brothers declined to comment. I also did not ask them to comment. So, that might be on me. Stay tuned for more fantasy casting rumors that should NEVER happen!
I am far from the first podcast listener. In fact, for many years, I was absolutely clueless about what a podcast was. I'm still not sure if it ever had anything to do with a way for servicemen in the military to communicate with their loved ones at home. I heard at one time that's what podcasting was. I believed it, and never looked any further into it. Until I noticed some of my favorite comedians being mentioned in the same breath as podcasts in or around 2011 or so...it was also the same time that I got my first smart phone. It was a Windows phone, and Verizon gave away Halo: Reach as a promotion with Microsoft...so, yeah 2011 or so. Well now that the timeline is verified, let's take a peek into my first 5 years as a podcast listener and my journey so far.
Let's talk about the 2016 WWE brand extension for a moment. Recently, WWE decided to split their roster and have two LIVE events being televised on a weekly basis. By splitting up the roster, the company will receive more revenue by having SmackDown & RAW on separate touring dates.
So, each show picked a new GM and then proceeded to draft their own roster of superstars. The shows, while being in the same company, have a different feel to them. Yet, they are trying to create a head-to-head competing vibe, but rasslin' fans will tune into both.
That brings me to the recent crop of comic book films, and the Marvel vs. DC fight that fanboys of their particular brand want to happen. However, comic book fans (like myself and so many others out there) can enjoy every single one of these films, regardless of brand (or studio), on their own merits. So now that I've drawn the parallels of the WWE brand extension to the cinematic universes of both comic book brands, let's hash out this out like the WWE in a good ol' fashion tournament to crown the first ever cinematic champion (at this point in 2016).
